Fundamental aspects

Principles and fundamental aspects of our translation work

Of the multitude of general translation strategies with their own parameters familiar from general linguistics, translation and interpretation science and intended for a specific purpose, our standard goals and objectives take account of the following at least:

  1. Text category
  2. Text type
  3. Target group
  4. Language:
depending on the specification in the standard of the continental variants
  5. Communicative target:
optimum degree of translation of the contents of the source text, whereby
it is assumed as far as the latter is concerned that it is deliberately/justifiably and explicitly articulated source material which is binding in all its semantic aspects.
  6. Vocabulary/technical terminologies:
insofar as they are available via generally accessible reference works; this also applies to languages without exhaustive lexica. Information with regard to special terminologies and lexical developments specific to the customer (internal technical) are to be included where necessary.

The practical execution is carried out in accordance with the stipulations in our leaflet "Principles for carrying our practical translation work" and in accordance with the job and processing criteria agreed with the customer on the basis of our Job specification.
